The application can be configured and used with few simple steps. For the purpose of illustration, we will choose a sample presentation session wherein you want to make a sample presentation to a remote Skype user and the presentation material includes slides from PowerPoint (converted to wmv files) and an additional video file in MP4 format. There are 4 video streams involved in this example session: (1) Your web cam feed, (2) Video feed from Remote Skype Participant, (3) Presentation material as WMV slides and (4) An MP4 video that emphasizes some of the concepts in slide show.
You can use the following steps to create a presentation session where the 3D scene contains:
1. Launch the Onyx Control Panel. 2. Place yourself in the 3D scene using a webcam. 3. Add the a power point point presentation (converted as WMV format) to the session. 4. Add the a wmv/mp4 video file to the session. 5. Invite the remote participant through a Skype video call. 6. Click "Launch Onyx" on the Onyx Control Panel.
Step1: Launch the Onyx Control Panel: Windows Start Menu => Onyx Virtual Studio =>Onyx Control Panel. The application appears and "Virtual Studio" Tab is selected by default.
Step 2: Double click on the row containing anchor1 under the column "Plane". The dialog box view changes to details panel as shown. Select the "Source Type" as "Camera". A dialog box showing the available cameras appears. Select the camera name from the dialog box and exit. Return to the input list by clicking "Return to List" button.
Step 3:Double click on the row containing display1 under the column "Plane". The dialog box changes details panel as shown. Select the "Source Type" as File. A file selection dialog box appears. Select the wmv file containing power point slides that you want to present.
Step 4: Double click on the row containing display2 under the column "Plane". The dialog box changes to details panel as shown. Select the "Source Type" as File. A file open dialog box pops up. Select the wmv or mp4 that you want to present in addition to slide show.
Step 5: Click on the "Skype Video Call" tab. Enter your Skype credentials and click login. On successful login, Skype Details panel appears. Select the remote user either by double clicking the row in the contact list or entering in the skype id in "Contact" edit box. Click Dial button. If the connection is successful, return to the Input configuration by selecting "Virtual Studio" tab on the UI. Double click on the row containing display3 under the column "plane". Select the Skype from the "Source Type" list. A dialog box pops-up showing a name assigned to the Skype video input. Click OK to accept it. Return to the input list by selecting "Virtual Studio" tab..
Step 6: All the input streams are configured for the session. Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the Onyx Control Panel. Click the "Launch Onyx" button at the bottom of the Control Panel. The presentation session starts.
Navigating the 3D Scene: You can navigate the 3D scene using arrow keys, Page Up and Page Down keys.
You can also set focus to each stream by clicking the number corresponding to the stream. For example click the number 1 to set focus to display1. You can change the position and orientation of anchor1 in the scene using keys listed in the section Navigation keys".
Presentation: You can press the key 'p' to toggle play/pause state of the stream currently having the focus. With this you can make the presentation synchronization with your voice explanations.
